At age 10 I took up the chello.
１０歳でチェロを始めました。

＊ 自分の過去を振り返りある年齢で新たに何かを始めたことを伝える表現

　  at ある一点を表す前置詞

    At age ～ I ～ ～歳で私は～
  
    take up ～ (趣味や活動)を始める

　 (例)
    At age 60 I took up mountain climbing to maintain my health.
    健康維持のために６０歳で山登りを始めました。

There’s no time to get nervous if you’re trying to get these two items accomplished.
この２つの目標を達成しようとするのなら緊張している暇はありません。

＊ 何かに集中している時、他のことなど考えいている余裕はないことを伝える表現

    There’s no time to  ～する暇はありません

　 (例)
    There’s no time to waste.
    無駄な時間はありません。

　 (例)
    There’s no time to get nervous if you’re trying to win.
    優勝しようとするのなら緊張している暇はありません。

＊ 趣味としてやっていることを謙虚に伝えている表現

　 (例)
    I don’t have much talent.But I like to play the guitar.
    私にはたいした才能があるわけではありません。けれどもギターを弾くのが好きです。

[Phrase 4]

New York is a place that epitomizes this music more than any place else.
ニューヨークこそ他のどこよりこのジャズという音楽の縮図となる絶好の場所です。

＊ 他の場所と比べて特定の場所を高く評価していることを伝える表現

    New York epitomizes this music.
　
　　より簡単に上記のよう表現できるがis a place thatを挟むことで「ニューヨークとはそんな所さ」とあらためて見直している表現になっている。

くだけた言い回し

　  “Wow,that’s another opportunity to earn a living and play music.”
    「すごい、そうやって生計を立てながら音楽を演奏する機会だったあるんだ」

     I’m okay with that,too.
     それでも別に構わないと思いますけどね。

　　 くだけていない言い方にすると
 
     That’s okay with me.
     That’s fine with me.
