比較級を使った表現
She is better at computers than I am.
彼女は私よりコンピューターが得意だ。
at computersはなくてもいいがないと何について得意かわからない。
She is better than I am at computers.というように順番を変えることも可能。
The movie was more enjoyable that I expected.
その映画は私が期待したよりも楽しめた。
The movie was less enjoyable that I expected.
その映画は私が期待したほど楽しめなかった(会話ではlessはあまり使われない)。
The price of the car will be no less than $50,000.
その車は少なくとも５万ドルはする(５万ドルよりも少なくはない、慣用表現)。
It was more than an accident.
それは事故以上のものだった(慣用表現)。
The more I see him,The more I realize how much I love him.
私は彼に会えば会うほど、彼を愛していることに気づく(慣用表現)。
the younger and the better.
若ければ若いほどよい(省略形の慣用表現)。
It’s going to take no less that a full day.
まる少なくとも１日はかかるだろう(まる１日より少ない)。
